Ever wondered, why a handloom saree or a brass metal gift item you saw or an organic spice you were keen on buying was expensive. It is not only because of the margins charged by the Retailers but the margins charged by various middlemen, traders, wholesalers to enable end to end supply chain.

Let’s take a simple example, a bhagalpuri weaver wants to buy silk he goes to a nearby mandi or a trader and buys through them while the silk procured by him has passed on at least 3 hands by the time he procures and hence the cost has escalated. Typically, each process involved in the Rural supply chain has many middlemen in between and that is exactly what we wanted to solve when we started our journey of Bhasha.

Bhasha: Life is a vernacular B2B platform helping handicrafts artisans, handlooms weavers, nonperishable agri farmers, and processing units to maximize margins while offering their goods at the competitive price. Our platform automates the supply chain by cross-linking the input suppliers with producing companies who work as our hub and they, in turn, help our artisans and weavers get the products at the best price. Bhasha: also supports its supplier base with easy access to credit in lieu of the Purchase Orders generated while offering them protective insurance covers as needed from compliance factors. Bhasha: is not just a platform but an ecosystem created to enable the Micro Entrepreneurship environment in Rural India.

Currently, the linkages offered by e-tailers and startups along with few specialized stores have primarily commoditized the market and hence the outlook towards these products is that these remain ancillary demands and not the mainstream. This mindset coupled with the pricing strategy and competition from automated mass production units replicating the look and feel in cheaper raw materials has taken a toll on the whole industry. Bhasha: is aiming to educate the market that these products are no longer ancillary products but can compete in mainstream markets by being able to cater to specific demographics and demands. It is said that on average a person spends 7 Rupees on embroidery per year this figure coupled with other such triggers creates a market with huge potential which is yet to be tapped into.

Our platform is aiming to be a dialect based vernacular platform where we want to enable Rural to Rural to Urban communication hence creating better trade opportunities. If you are a retail buyer, Bhasha enables you to procure directly from a Weaver, artisan or farmer with a transparent supply chain where in you have the flexibility of planning in short spurts and long term, changing the buying plan in between if the colors, texture or styling is not working and still be able to help a SUSTAINABLE GROWTH for our suppliers across the supply chain. Typically a fabric buyer should be getting a 8-10% reduction in Fabric cost.

Currently, we work in Silk and Wool sectors in Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and J&K. Our plan is to introduce Silver Jewellery shortly from Rajasthan and  Brass art facts from Madhya Pradesh.

Our suppliers stick with us primarily because of the size of orders we are able to generate, the ecosystem we create for them to foster and become micro entrepreneurs and the Financial assistance we offer for them to have cash flow and on ground support.

We have just launched our exclusive club called Bhasha: Club targeted towards Fashion Designers and specialised stores to give them options, accessibility and better pricing than their existing supplier base. We also allow them to work with our artisans and weavers to co create unique, contemporary and exclusive styles.

So next time, you buy from a retail store a handloom, handicraft or organic agriculture spice or dry fruit look for our mark. One purchase of yours can create the change we want to spur!!

Let’s support BHARAT and its entrepreneurs.
