Ashwin Bhadri’s Success Story: Roadmap to Success

Introducing in a few words

The same old question, but this feels good. I initially was known due to my last name. My father’s contribution was the reason I was known for. For now, I am a leader, not an entrepreneur helping society to experience the best of the necessities.

How do you define entrepreneurship and leadership?

Entrepreneurs are businessmen, taking steps calculative to earn profits and losses.

Well, every business does the same thing, even the leaders, but entrepreneurs have set targets to accomplish. They’re supposed to be thick in and out, spending most of the time in cubical, being in the race always, having a thirst to always win.

Leadership is a similar concept, but these are the people who work in the industry for business, of course, yet they have a mindset to help the people grow. Those are guiders helping people achieve goals and support for the betterment.

How did you decide to quit the full-pledged company and start from scratch?

I being a typical Indian son, after completing the degree, came back to India. I joined the company and took the charge of a few things. My father owned a Water Treatment Company and I meet various people who discussed how my father has helped me. Slowly, while working, I realized, I was known due to my last name, and not because I am doing something great. I had a different definition of entrepreneur and just didn’t feel content while working.

While working in a family business, I released there was a gap to be filled. Water is a basic necessity of humans, so far, some people do not have access to safe consumable water. As I was working closely with water treatment, I had plans to walk on the steps of my father, but cater to society something that benefits every person. I decided to work on the air, water, and food aspects that are major reasons behind the survival of humans. I dreamt of a world where people do have access to safe food, fresh air to breathe, and quality water to drink.

There were problems, but no one was ready to work in the front. Hence, I decided to start with Equinox Labs and fill in those gaps that are necessary.

What makes you feel bad at the same time happy about the journey?

We have come a long way and have a long way to go. We onboarded talent that helped us grow and we helped them grow. While you work in collaboration, there are times when you need to part away from a few employees. This is good as well sad at the same time. Good, because they helped us grow and we allowed them to bring out their talent which benefits the organization.

Bad because, your company cannot afford to lose talent that worked hard with you, but you allow parting for their future goodness.

Your advice to entrepreneurs or leaders

  • People or entrepreneurs or start-up companies do wish to grow in no time today. While you’re a start-up, you need time to settle. There are endless hurdles and be ready to face them every time. Also, do not quit even if you fail hundred times.
  • Don’t get comfortable, risk and uncomfortable are the paths that lead a person to success.
  • You have a mentor in your life and be choosy about the right mentor.
  • Mentors affect your life, surround yourself with someone who motivates you.
