After the end of the contract for the sponsorship of IPL worth Rs 440 crore by Chinese company Vivo, now the BCCI is preparing to bid a new contract. Patanjali has also expressed interest in joining this dialect and is in the race for sponsorship. Patanjali spokesperson stated that we want to bring the Patanjali brand to the global marketing platform, and for this, the FMCG giant is considering IPL title sponsorship this year.

On August 6, Vivo got removed from the title sponsorship of IPL 2020 after the country’s anti-China sentiment and clashes in Galwan valley. Since then, BCCI is looking for a new IPL title sponsor for this year and may give a 50% discount for IPL title sponsorship this year. BCCI expects to earn Rs 300 crore this year from the title sponsorship. Ironically in 2012, Baba Ramdev called cricket an enemy of Indian culture. Apart from this, while explicitly commenting on the IPL, Ramdev said that the game has become obscene due to cheerleaders’ presence. Baba Ramdev even told that due to cricket, gambling and betting market is increasing in the country. This will be the first time that Patanjali Ayurved will sponsor a cricket tournament.
