The South Asia Track of NamesCon Online 2021- The Largest Global Domaining Conference hosted a dedicated session for the Newcomers wherein they shared their inspiring journey that astonished the adherents. The panel is moderated by Hitesh Wadhwa- Co-founder of DN School, had four newcomers i.e. young and enthusiastic domainers namely Utsav Suri from Delhi, Ankur Singh from Ayodhya (a student pursuing graduation), Sunil Kapoor from Delhi (a businessman in Delhi), and Bibek Adhikari from Nepal (Banker turned Businessman).

Having learned from the Urban Skill Webinars and other online sources and networking each of these rising stars of the Domaining industry have developed their own style of working and have been the exclusive performers as newbies. With an ongoing effort to explore a myriad of ways in dealing with the internet domain names, newcomers have been weaving their own success stories, the beginning of which was shared by them in this session which is truly inspiring for all those interested in formulating a career into domaining and are somehow fear the expansive portfolios of the experts.

Here is what the dawn of the Domaining of these newbies vocalizes:

UTSAV SURI-

Hailing from New Delhi, this young man developed the taste buds to domaining by watching a Youtube Video with a curiosity to learn every bit of learning domaining and his extensive interest in learning landed him to the Urban Skill’s free Webinar Course Series on Domain Aftermarket Business. With an aspiration to start domaining as a side hustle, Utsav has been a dedicated learner at Urban Skill that helped him get hold of the immensely immersive knowledge of Domaining. He now holds a portfolio of around 50 domains (Mostly geo domains) with a sale of around 9 domains via outbound in the past year. Having wisely invested in geo domains, gaining considerable success, and throwing light on the importance of cash flows for the newbies to make better investments, Utsav advised the newbies to begin with geo domains.

Sharing his personal experience of remarkable sales, he mentioned that comparatively, the geo domains are easily available, can be hand registered and one can easily find prospects through a google search. Keeping his enthusiasm alive for domaining Utsav is a passionate learner and a self-motivated individual who already has plans to work upon wherein he is looking forward to exploring the new niche has already set up a target to earn a certain amount of money through domaining along with a goal to pick a domain every week. Representing himself as an example, Utsav also advised the newbies to go for Urban Skill’s free course on Domaining and proceed gradually with the help of mentors by selecting a specific niche.

ANKUR SINGH-

We all have come across the fascination achieve something or the other in life but there are very few who actually feed their dreams since an early stage and Ankur Singh is one of those. Belonging to the holy place i.e. Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh, he is a 21-year-old student pursuing his graduation who got into domaining some 7 months back while he was looking for a source of income during the lockdown period when the world was hit by the global pandemic and there was a boom in the online businesses.

He got inspired by some of the domain sales of his friend Mukesh- an Urban Skill attendee who just started a year back after joining the free webinar course series at Urban Skill. Following his recommendation, Ankur joined the sessions at Urban Skill and kick-started his domaining journey right from his college phase. Having made few successful sales he shared the story of his $299 sale of the domain slaughterroofing.com which he found from Namebio by observing the trends of domains related to roofing.

This story of Ankur conveys the sense of observance he possesses as he took an immediate decision to try hands with a domain name he found was trending into the business without any prior awareness to the same. Ankur made his first sale right after two months since he began his journey to domaining for $200. Dealing wisely in his outbound sales Ankur has been consistent with his outbound strategies where he lays a great emphasis on the follow-ups, calling it an integral step of the outbound process. Ankur is truly an inspiration who made himself witness the sales at the earliest in his domaining journey.

SUNIL KAPOOR-

Sharpening the skills and modeling a business is always a logical way to excel in what you are doing and with a similar perception, Sunil Kapoor who is a well-known businessman soon after discovering the other side of the domain names i.e. buying and selling through Urban Skill webinars decided to explore this side of domains which was very new to him. With a mix of geo, keyword, as well as brandable domain names Sunil, holds a portfolio of around 70 domains he is an entrant to the domaining industry has been very keen on picking up the domain names.

Mentioning about his initial plans to focus on the GoDaddy expired domains and GD Closeout and acquiring some 20 domains, he decided to explore the Auctions, just with a curiosity to see what actually happens there and entering their he ended up with an unplanned acquisition of the domain name studioauditions.com for $150. Having acquired some valuable domains Sunil believes that he shall master the skill of acquisition and then sales because he believes that patience always makes a way to success rather than ending up in some less profitable sales.

Advising the newcomers Sunil laid emphasis on having a planned strategy with clarified goals about selling and gaining. Learning from his mistake on spending over a domain with spelling mistake he advised that before buying a domain one should be careful and must avoid making such mistakes and one shouldn’t be disheartened with the number of sales as one apparently ends up selling 1% of domains of their entire portfolio but with greater gains.

BIBEK ADHIKARI-

A banker turned businessman Bibek Adhikari hailing from a small town in Nepal was another sufferer in the pandemic where his business got shutdown but all the while he gathered courage and came across one of the videos of Pankaj Vijayvargiya that developed his interest into domaining, but Pankaj holding expertise mainly in .in domains couldn’t help him much and thereafter he came across the free webinars of Urban Skill that helped him explore the varied other domains and pave his path to domaining as a full-time career since November 2020. Bibek further mentioned another domainer from Chitwan, Nepal named Sachin who holds a huge portfolio of around 6000 .com domains.

He shared the usage trends of the official CCTLD of Nepal i.e. .np and the restricted usage of .coms in the country. Bibek recently rejected an offer $200 offer for one of his domains related to wallet with confidence to sell the same in between $1K-5K. This comes from the awareness and observance of the growing trends of crypto-currencies. This in turn is a point to focus on that, how important it is to stay updated with the market trends in order to rightly price your domains.
